COMMENCEMENT BENEDICTION/SENDING FORTH
Rev. Connie Breaux
Receive this blessing to go into the world, Graduating class of (year).
May you have the commitment to go into the world being led by the Great Spirit of Hope and Imagination, to see the gifts and achievements that the Almighty Creator calls out of you.
May you have the courage to live your “impossible dreams” so that they will become possible!
May you also have the courage not to look back – because you are confident that the Source of all creation will use you in a mighty way for the purpose to which you are called.
As you go forth, put into practice the accumulated knowledge you have achieved.
Go forth with your head in the clouds of ambition toward making life better for all as well as for yourself.
Go forth with your feet firmly planted on the solid ground plowed by your family, friends and teachers of your heritage and society.
Go to heights quite beyond your present capabilities as you follow the lead of God, who gives faith, wisdom, understanding and blessings.
Go, knowing that what you have received today is yours and nothing can separate you from your love of (university/college) and the Great Source of Knowledge and Wisdom, the Master Teacher.
Go in peace.
COMMENCEMENT INVOCATION
Rev. Connie Breaux
Greetings, please center with me as I bring the invocation of the hour.
Empowering God of grace and mercy, we invite your presence into this place today. Family, faculty, administrators, community and friends have come together to celebrate the accomplishments of the (year) graduating class. We ask for a blessing to fall upon those with ears to hear, and minds to understand. Bless our speaker’s words and thoughts; give continuous encouragement to the (name of school) college/university, to press on in their mission of education.
Holy Scripture tells us, “Happy is the person who finds wisdom, and gets understanding. Loving God, make us living stones for a strong foundation through the invitation of your Son, the Christ. Great Redeemer, Master Teacher, send your Holy Spirit to dwell with us, right now, right here in this place. Hear our prayer, in the name of Jesus Christ our Savior. Amen.
HOW DO YOU WORSHIP?
In young people's ministries there are a variety of preferences for worship styles, music genres and written content. This diversity offers us a great opportunity to learn from each other around worship practices that are meaningful in our communities. Are there liturgies, prayers, poems, songs, or whole services that you, a youth, young adult, or group, have written? Share it with us and we may post it on the web! All submissions must be original compositions. By submitting your work to GBOD, you're giving us permission to reproduce your work.
