Johannsburg, South Africa selected to host first Global Youth Convocation
by Kenia Guimaraes, Division on Ministries With Young People
Mark your calendar for the Global Young People’s Convocation-Legislative Assembly December 28, 2006-January 1, 2007, Johannesburg, South Africa. This will be a place where 500 United Methodist young people from all across the world will come together to share, learn and connect. Delegates to the assembly will vote on legislations to send to the 2008 General Conference of the United Methodist Church.
Please plan to bring young people from your area, with excitement, enthusiasm and energy to mark the history of the first Global Young People’s Convocation-Legislative Assembly. For more information, please contact Kenia Guimaraes.
As a Global and Connectional Church we should strive to learn, understand each other’s cultural differences and the unique backgrounds that bring us together as God’s people.
One of my dreams and visions for the Central Conferences is to have young people from all over the world to come together and connect with each other. Share their personal life experiences, struggles, gifts and realities, so their stories may be used to impact other young to transform this world. Young people coming together bridging gaps and differences that separate us such as social, economical, religious, ethnic and political. Our goal is to empower young people to become world-changing disciples of Jesus Christ.
