Three types of scholarships are available through The Fellowship for the 2007 convocation in St. Louis, Missouri.
In addition, you should check with your United Methodist district and annual conference offices to see if scholarships are available for training events.
Older Adult Scholarship.
This is provided for any adult over 65 years of age who is also retired from all full-time employment (church or other). Four complimentary registrations, meal plans, and transportation (value up to $460.00) are available.
Several criteria will be considered. All applicants should be over 65 years of age AND retired from all full-time employment (church or other).
Multi-Cultural Convocation Scholarship.
This scholarship was adopted by majority vote of The Fellowship during the 1993 Fellowship Convocation business meeting at Grand Rapids, Michigan. The intent of the scholarship is to increase the diversity of convocation registrants and to promote compliance with and address paragraph 162(a) of The Book of Discipline of The United Methodist Church.
Ten complimentary registrations (value up to $260.00) are available. Cash awards will not be made. Several criteria will be considered. Persons of all racial and ethnic backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Persons in each jurisdiction shall have equal access to the scholarships. Groups from one church are encouraged to apply as a group and split the scholarship.
It is presumed that all applicants need the scholarship funds for the sole purpose of attending the National Convocation of The Fellowship in St. Louis, Missouri, July 16-19, 2007.
Fellowship Member Scholarship.
This scholarship is provided for any member of The Fellowship. Four reduced price registrations ($100.00) are available. Cash awards will not be made.
Deadlines:
January 15, 2007 Applications received by January 15, 2007, will be considered first. Recipients will be notified no later than February 1, 2007.
April 1, 2007 If scholarships remain, applications received between January 16, 2007, and April 1, 2007 will be considered in a second group. Recipients will be notified no later than April 15, 2007.
In the event that all scholarships are not awarded by April 1, other applications will be considered as they are received.
All applicants will be considered for all scholarships for which they are qualified.
- Each recipient will only receive one scholarship.
- Applications will be considered on the basis of financial need and the value of the experience to a local church ministry.
- Neither the applicant nor their church should be able to pay the registration fee for the convocation.
