The Faith We Sing

Our Faith We Sing
by Dean McIntyre

This new hymn text was written to celebrate the publication of The Faith We Sing. It may be used by local churches as they dedicate the new hymn book or in other services of worship. The recommended tune is "Gift of Love" (also known as "O Waly Waly"), which may be found in The United Methodist Hymnal, (#408, #643) and in The Faith We Sing ("Now Praise the Hidden Love of God" and "For All the Saints"). Other suitable Long Meter (LM, 88.88) tunes may be found in the "Metrical Index" at the back of The United Methodist Hymnal, pages 926-927.

On this new day we rise to bring
Our prayer and praise as offering;
O, Jesus Christ, Lord, Savior, King,
It is in you our faith we sing.

With saints of old who've gone before,
With saints today, both rich and poor;
With those within and out our door,
Our faith we sing forevermore.

When fear and doubt obscure the way,
When sorrow darkens every day,
Then may our hope in Jesus lay,
In whom our faith we sing and pray.

Praise God, from whom all blessings flow;
Praise God, all creatures here below;
Praise God above, ye heavenly host;
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.

(recommended tune, "Waly Waly," contained in The United Methodist Hymnal, #408 or #643, and in The Faith We Sing, #2027 or #2283)
