We’ve just been shocked into remembering our purpose as the body of Christ.
The events this week at Virginia Tech press us to commit this to memory: We are to be intercessors on behalf of the whole world. The highest calling at this time is to pray.
Pray for the families involved with the tragedy.
Pray for those in our own communities who are touched by the events.
Pray. It is how we as Christians take action.
This Sunday, April 22, is an opportunity for all of us leading worship to help our congregations express our collective grief, sadness, and even our anger.
We invite you to set aside a special time during this Sunday’s worship for prayers for all that’s in our hearts. GBOD and other agencies will help you in this effort. Below we have collected prayers, litanies, hymns, musings, and reflections. We hope that all these help you prepare to lead your congregations during this difficult time.
Together, let us lift all of those involved in this tragedy to the mercy of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
