Covenant Discipleship Quarterly- Winter 2001

Five years of belonging to a Covenant Discipleship Group at Asbury United Methodist Church, Washington, DC, has made a tremendous difference in my attitude and thinking as I strive for perfection in walking the Christian life. Sharing in a covenant and being accountable to God has given me peace.

I have made a covenant to use my time, skills, resources, and strengths to serve both God and God's creation earnestly and lovingly. Daily devotions, with the reading of Scripture and prayer, have become routine in my life. I have become serious about the importance of spending time helping the disadvantaged and/or someone in need, accepting people as they are, speaking out against injustices practiced at home, at church, in the community, and throughout the world.

I have made a commitment to witness to Jesus Christ in the world and to follow his teachings in all that I say and do. The General Rule has a special meaning in my life for everyday living.
