Welcome to Creating Sacred Spaces, where you’ll find some creative ideas for setting up prayer stations and personal or corporate prayer activities. We’ll be updating this space about every two weeks, so keep coming back for new suggestions. We can pray anywhere and at any time. God’s ear is always attentive to the prayers of His people. However, churches that create sacred space may find that people are drawn to these areas because they can experience God’s presence in an unhindered way. Away from distractions, many people find communicating with God easier in prayer rooms that are appealing and engaging. Since prayer is a conversation that involves both talking and listening, the listening aspect of prayer is often enhanced when entering spaces set aside for prayer. Creating Sacred Space often includes using all of our senses to help us engage in prayer. Therefore, the ideas you find here may involve beauty to the eye, engaging tactile responses, music that flows into prayer, and other suggestions for interaction.
