Africana Hymnal Study

The 2008 General Conference authorized the General Board of Discipleship and the United Methodist Publishing House to conduct a study to determine the need for an official United Methodist hymnal for North American Christians of African descent.

As a result of General Conference Petition 80217 (http://www.kintera.org/atf/cf/{3482e846-598f-460a-b9a7-386734470eda}/GBOD--02 AFRICANA_HYMNAL_PETITION.PDF), a study committee has been constituted to study the worship and ritual needs of the more than 444,000 black Methodists in the United Methodist Church in North America.
