This hymn is commentary on how God's love works to bring joy, happiness, peace, and on the healing ministry of the Holy Spirit. The author writes, “Love divine, quell now our fear was my personal prayer during a long, healing. It would be appropriate during the lectionary reading of the Spirit descending, or during the Gospel of The Good Samaritan, or during the season of Pentecost.”
