Faith to Say Yes!

Background Music: "Yes Lord!" (Sandra Crouch)

Setting: A young woman is window shopping in the mall alone. She beams with excitement, for she is preparing for her wedding. She stops to rest in the courtyard. Not many people are there; soft music is playing in the background. She pulls out a book of devotions to read. A friend from a small group of shoppers sees her sitting alone in the courtyard and wanders over to share a moment with her as the background music fades…)

Friend: Hi, Mary, got a minute?

Mary: Hi, yes, I have a minute. What's up?

Friend: I am so happy for you and Joseph!

Mary (smiles and blushes): Thanks so much! I'm happy, too! I love him very much.

Friend: Girl, I want to share something with you, and I don't want you to think I'm crazy! But this thought or vision or whatever it was has been placed upon me and I gotta tell you.

Mary (Perplexed): What is it? Are you ok?

Friend: Oh, I'm fine. But Mary, The Lord has placed in my spirit that you will have a baby. You're pregnant!

Mary (Pushes away from her friend): No I'm not! I'm a virgin, and God knows that!

Friend: Yes, but God placed in my spirit that you will have his son! I don't understand, but you know nothing is impossible with God. Remember your cousin Elizabeth is now pregnant in her old age. Now, ain't that a miracle?! (Snaps her fingers)

Mary: This can't be! I'm a virgin and getting ready to marry the love of my life. What will I tell my family? How is Joseph going to react. Oh, Lord, what shall I do? (slowly places her head in her hands)

Friend: Remember that all things are possible with God. Don't be afraid. This child will be holy and will bring food to our world. He will be called Son of God. Mary, you are a blessed woman of God. God will take care of you. Your family and Joseph will understand. I'm glad you don't think I'm crazy! I'm just delivering the message God gave me. Now, I'm going to get my dress for the wedding.

Mary (visibly shifting from worry to inner strength, turns away from her friend to speak to God): My faith in you is stronger than my worry. Here I am, your servant, Let it be. I stand on your promises. Yes, Lord use me.

(Background music, "Yes, Lord" begins. Friend exits and Choir sings "Yes, Lord.")
