Invitation, Confession and Pardon (Bishop Trimble)
Christ invites us all to this table.
As a sign of that invitation, we welcome one another, just as we are.
We recognize our desire to love God with all we are and to love our neighbor as ourselves.
We also come with the knowledge that we are not right, as individuals and as a community.
The good news is that no matter how we come, Christ is waiting for us.
Therefore, let us confess our sin before God and before one another.

Lord, we confess to you,

we have failed to avoid doing harm to others and your creation… (silence)
we have failed to do all the good we could as stewards of your love… (silence)
we have failed to make use of all the means of grace you offer us… (silence)

We have confessed. God is faithful to forgive.
Assure those around you with these words:
"In the name of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven."

And offer one another signs of reconciliation and peace.

We praise you, God, for the stories in Scripture
and throughout history
in which we see your call
acting in the lives of others.
We praise you now especially for those people
and those stories
which we name before you.

The people lift up the name of stories from Scripture, history and life for which they are thankful

We praise you, God,
for the sacred story of Jesus the Christ,
which we now remember and celebrate…

blessed and broke it,
and gave it to his disciples, saying,
"Take, eat.
This is my body given for you.
Do this in remembrance of me."

We praise you, God,
remembering when Jesus took the cup,
gave thanks to you,
gave it to his disciples and said,
"Drink this, all of you.
This is my blood of the new covenant for you.
Do this in remembrance of me."
