The 2002 Training Event "Race to Indy," held in Indianapolis at St. Luke's UMC, was a success. Indeed we did learn to rev up our engines and prepare for the great race. Harold Ivan Smith and Terry Hershey fed us with daily words of inspiration to affirm our call to single-adult ministry. Dr. Smith challenged us with trends we will face (whether ready or not) and affirmed the circle of friends many single people create as their family. Hershey presented the "7 Habits of People Who Love Life" with laughter that warmed the soul and moved the heart.

7 Habits of People Who Love Life

  1. People who love life are intoxicated with this world because they know it is sacred.
  2. People who love life know that growth is a journey. Success does not require arrival.
  3. People who love life want what they already hold. If you didn't bring it with you, you're not going to find it here.
  4. People who love life give no heed to public opinion.
  5. People who love life learn the art of doing nothing.
  6. People who love life delight in their friends.
  7. People who love life give the child the wide sky, and they understand that laughter is a type of prayer.
