Becoming Barnabas: The Ministry of Encouragement by Paul Moots, The Alban Institute, 2004
We don't hear much about Barnabas in the Bible just a few verses, yet we know he played an important role in the ministry of the early Christians. Paul Moots reminds us of the significance of becoming an encouraging leader as he discusses the ministries of encouragement, partnership, hospitality, courage, and reconciliation using the biblical examples of Barnabas and his ministry.
Moots shares experiences from his ministry to affirm that the principles of encouragement, attentiveness to God and authenticity can be used in any church to make a difference in the kingdom of God here on earth. Reflection questions at the end of each chapter make this book a wonderful resource for small-group study.
I "encourage" you to share this book with the laity and clergy in your annual conference. I believe it could transform leaders and congregations.
