Gathering: Every year, ask your family to gather on Easter morning for devotions. Make sure to include Easter guests and visitors in the devotions.
Praise: Praise God with songs, hymns, poems, psalms, or words of praise.
Peace: Offer an embrace of peace and words of reconciliation to each member of the family.
Prayer: Use the Easter prayer (below) or sing the Lord's prayer. One person leads and the others repeat (sing) back each sentence in the Lord's prayer.
Scripture Reading: Mark 16: 1-16
Ask one person in the family to read the Resurrection story in Mark 16-1-16. Ask family members to talk about what the Scripture says to them and to the family. Ask children to draw pictures that illustrate these verses.
Sharing: Share your joys, concerns, and prayers for others.
Thanksgiving: Give thanks to God and count your blessings as a family.
Easter Prayer for Families
Creator God, we praise and we glorify your name.
On this blessed Easter morning our family comes together to remember and celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Thank you, Jesus, for giving your life for us.
We confess that we have sinned against you and our neighbors.
Forgive us, we pray. Transform our lives to your service.
Bless our families and bless all the families of the earth.
Bless those who are suffering, oppressed, abused, and needy.
Grant us loving hearts to repent, to pray, and to help them.
Grant us wisdom to walk closely with you.
Help us to worship you in spirit and in truth.
Help us to love and accept one another and our neighbors.
In the name of Jesus, our Savior, we pray, Amen.
