First Musical Settings of Charles Wesley’s Hymns

Dr. Carlton Young, scholar, author, pastor, educator, hymnologist, editor, composer and musician, edited two of our hymnals: the 1966 Methodist Hymnal and the 1989 United Methodist Hymnal. This presentation was originally intended for the 2012 annual meeting of the Charles Wesley Society in Nashville, Tennessee. Here Dr. Young explores the earliest musical settings of some of the more familiar and favorite Charles Wesley hymns. A print handout to accompany his presentation is also available as a pdf download.
