ACCOmodations
Location
Deer Valley Ranch, Nathrop, Colorado near Buena
Vista. A map will be sent with registration
packet. Remembering that Jesus often retreated
to the Galilean hills for time with God, we
offer this retreat experience in the Rocky Mountains
where we can glory in the beauty of God’s
creation and renew our sense of holy vocation.
Deer Valley Ranch is 21⁄2 hours from Denver
International Airport and 2 hours from the Colorado
Springs airport, but from either airport it
is the first and second most beautiful drive
in America!
Transportation
Participants will need to provide their own
transportation to Deer Valley. We recommend
members of the group share the expense of renting
cars, preferably SUVs or Jeep Wranglers, as
we will make at least two off-road trips. An
updated registration list will be emailed to
all participants on a regular basis so you can
arrange to “car pool” to and from
Deer Valley. Provide the Retreat Director with
your flight arrival and departure times and
he will include this on the registration list
and help organize carpools. The sharing of costs
for car rental will be determined at the retreat,
so please bring extra cash or a check to reimburse
the drivers who rent the cars. Approximate cost
for shared car rental and gas: $100 per person
for the week.
Communications
Cell phones do not work at Deer Valley. Pay
phones are available in Centennial Hall, or
you can drive a mile or two out of the canyon
and get a signal. However, participants are
encouraged to take advantage of being disconnected
from the madding crowd for a week. Otherwise,
this won’t be a retreat.
Lodging
Rooms are located in the main lodge.
They are neat and clean. Retreat tuition is
based on double occupancy. There is an additional
charge for single occupancy. Each room has a
private bath.
Food
11 meals are included in the retreat tuition
Monday supper through Friday breakfast). Meals
are
served both family style and all-you-can-eat
buffet style in the main lodge. Special dietary
needs can be accommodated if advance notice
is given. Please indicate any dietary needs
on the registration form.
Field Trips
Participants who rent SUVs or Jeeps will be
asked to drive for these field trips: St. Elmo
mining ghost town and abandoned Hancock Mining
works, South Park City Museum in Fairplay, and
Boreas Pass with optional trip to Breckinridge.
