The High-Potential Metro Church Initiative is working to provide useful resources for those churches that serve in areas of high population density.

Demographic analysis shows that currently 83% of the U.S. population lives in areas with an urban core of at least 50,000 people. Looking at the areas of highest population density (where 25% of the U.S. population is located), we find less than 1800 United Methodist congregations. In other words, in the areas where we find 25% of the U.S. population, we find only 7.75% of United Methodists.

Clearly The United Methodist Church needs to take a hard look at how we are living out our mission to make disciples of Jesus Christ so that the world may be transformed.

On this site you will find links to other churches and organizations that are serving in the cities; information about available resources and events of particular interest to high-potential metro churches; and articles that provide information, food for thought, and stories of churches who are making a difference in the city.
