"I am delighted to announce that Steve Bryant will move to this position," says the Rev. Karen Greenwaldt. "Bishop Jim Dorff of the San Antonio Area concurs by appointing Steve to this position."
"Steve has vast experience and knowledge in international ministries. His appointment will allow us the tremendous opportunity to expand our work in the Central Conferences in order to develop greater ability to deliver regular and sustainable ways to provide needed resources and training. His skills and abilities, along with his passion for this ministry, prepare him to make a significant impact in this area," Greenwaldt said in an announcement June 2.
In this newly created position, Bryant will work directly with Greenwaldt's office to develop a strategy for meeting the needs of international ministries (countries outside the U.S.), particularly those within The United Methodist Central Conferences.
That strategy will build on strategic initiatives begun through the sustainable resourcing for Central Conferences initiative and will provide methods to respond to the needs of international constituency through development of progressive means of resource delivery.
In this position, Bryant will collaborate with Central Conference and other denominational leaders to develop support channels for ministry, as well as identify and nurture ongoing funding opportunities to support international ministries.
The General Board of Discipleship's mission is to support annual conference and local church leaders for their task of equipping world-changing disciples.
