The Training Program for Lay Missioners and Pastors is composed of three modules.

Module 1: Basic Instrumental Module

Module 1 offers participants methodological tools and practice that allows them to be ready to participate in a team developing ministries.

Module 1 is composed of five units, each lasting eight hours. Each unit is complete in itself, which allows for the participant to begin with any unit. However, the participant should complete all five units before going on to Module 2.

Unit 2: The Hispanic Community & the Role of the Church
Unit 3: The Hispanic Context & the Dominant Culture
Unit 4: The Hispanic Community & Mission Strategy
Unit 5: The Hispanic Community & Leadership

Module 2: Basic Knowledge Module

Module 2 offers participants knowledge and skills in the different areas of Christian ministry and reinforces the methodology learned in Module 1.

To enter into this Module, the participant must have completed Module 1 and have been in active ministry for at least three months.

Module 2 is composed of four units: three required units and one elective unit selected according to the specific ministry in which the participant is involved. Each required unit lasts eight hours; each elective unit is ten hours.

Each unit is complete in itself, which allows for the participant to begin with any unit. However, the participant should complete all four units before going on to Module 3.

Unit 2: Hispanic Ministries & the Reign of God
Unit 3: Working in Teams

Elective Units
Unit 4: Faith Communities
Unit 5: Community Ministries
Unit 6: Congregational Revitalization

Modules 1 and 2 are available through the General Board of Discipleship.

Module 3: Continuing Education Module

The purpose of this Module is to offer continuous formation in knowledge, methods, and skills for ministry.

Module 3 also seeks to offer information and models of ministry in the different areas of experience in society.

To enter into the units of this Module, the participant must be in active ministry in the selected unit’s topic.

The units in this Module are organized by ministry area and need; for example, worship, stewardship, conflict resolution, pastoral care, evangelism, ministry with migrant workers, and so on. The duration of each unit varies depending on the topic addressed. Each unit is independent.

These units are available through the General Board of Church and Society, General Board of Discipleship, General Board of Global Ministries, and General Board of Higher Education and Ministry.
