Equality of Access

ComputerrOne of the important issues the church must address is unequal access to technology, or the "digital divide." Studies show that, although 60% of all households now own computers, ownership in lower income homes and many racial/ethnic households is less than 10%. This is important to remember as we heed the call to share the good news with all God's people.

As the culture and the church become digital, the church must reach out in new ways to help everyone get information and grow in faith. When a church moves into offering (and even expecting) people to access information and learning through technology, we must be aware that this will exclude a number of people. Alternative methods of delivery will have to be prepared; and in some instances, the church may even need to provide the hardware and software along with the content.
