Is FaithQuest like Disciple ?

Like Disciple, FaithQuest is a long-term commitment of time and thought for participants. However, the purpose of FaithQuest is different. FaithQuest strengthens spiritual leaders for congregations with attention on the mission of the church to make disciples of Jesus Christ. FaithQuest begins with a Bible Study for a group of church leaders (elected and potential) to help them talk about the role of the church in local communities and in the world. The process helps leaders renew or begin spiritual disciplines, reflect on the meaning of Scripture for today, and understand the role of the spiritual leaders in a team who lead the congregation.

How many weeks does the FaithQuest journey take?

FaithQuest is an 18-week process — an orientation and 17 sessions. Congregations adapt to the calendar of the church schedule. FaithQuest begins new processes and church systems that continue long after the Bible study sessions have been completed.

How long are the weekly sessions?

A minimum of two hours. The Leader's Guide suggests time allotments for gathering, Bible study, exploration of concepts, and discovery of applications to the congregation.

Many FaithQuest groups meet for a longer session so there is time for a break and refreshments.

How many participants should be in a FaithQuest group?

The Bible study is designed for the leadership of your congregation. That might include those who have assumed leadership positions or those who have the potential for leadership. An ideal group has 6 to 14 people and includes both clergy and lay leaders.

Do FaithQuest leaders need special training?

General guidance for leaders is in the front of the FaithQuest Bible Study book. There are specific helps for each of the 17 sessions on this website in the Leader's Guide.

May I see a sample lesson?

Yes. Click here to download FaithQuest Session 1 Sampler (in pdf format)
Please note that you need the latest version of Adobe Acrobat Reader (a free download from Adobe) to view pdf files.

How does my congregation get FaithQuest materials?

Order Faithquest materials from Discipleship Resources.

May I order materials now?

Yes. The FaithQuest Bible Study is available from Discipleship Resources.

How have congregations adapted FaithQuest for their context?

FaithQuest guides congregations to relevant and appropriate ministry by developing spiritual leaders. FaithQuest is being used in congregations of all sizes in growing and declining communities. Congregations are also using FaithQuest as a curriculum for leader development. Leaders of ministry areas are using FaithQuest to "re-vision" ministry.
