Teaching Churches & Ginghamsburg Ministry Seminars

Participants will choose one of the following churches for a one-day experience that includes worship in the morning, lunch, and a teaching session in the afternoon on Sunday.

  1. Cross Point United Methodist Church, Trotwood, OH
    John Bray, Senior Pastor

    This three-year-old crosscultural new church start meets in a strip mall owned by the 501c3 of the church.
  2. Troy First United Methodist Church, Troy, OH
    James C. Wilson II, Senior Pastor
    www.troyfumc.org
    This downtown county-seat congregation is classical in its worship style. Troy has recently added a former social club across the street for potential styles of worship, youth ministry, and community access.
  3. Sidney First United Methodist Church, Sidney, OH
    Christopher Heckaman, Pastor
    www.sidneyfirst.com
    This redeveloping downtown congregation has three styles of worship and is working on a second location. In less than five years, it has increased from 300 to more than 600 in worship.
  4. Dixon United Methodist Church, Dayton, OH
    Robert Biekman, Pastor
    This growing African American congregation has a vital restorative justice ministry with ex-offenders, Keepers of the Village.
  5. Stillwater United Methodist Church, Dayton, OH
    Duane Anders, Pastor

    Stillwater is a relocated multisite congregation that has grown from 35 in average attendance to more than 700 in two sites in the last ten years.
  6. Livingwater United Methodist Church, Englewood, OH
    John Alice, Pastor
    Livingwater is a church start partnered with the local YMCA where the congregation meets, sharing facilities, staff, and program.
  7. Evangelical United Methodist Church, Greenville, OH
    Bill Lyle, Pastor
    A county-seat church with three styles of worship, Evangelical rents the local civic center downtown for its GenX and contemporary services. The congregation has grown from 200 to 500 in worship.


Ginghamsburg Ministry Seminars will be offered on Monday at 10:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

  1. Radical Hospitality
    Presenter: Ron Bogle

  2. Media
    Presenters: Todd Carter & Brent Thurston
    A backstage pass to Ginghamsburg's media studio!
  3. Children's Ministry
    Presenters: RaNae Street & Chris McKee
    Learn to create safe and exciting environments, build and implement learning centers, recruit teachers, and target children at their unique developmental stages.
  4. Ultralive/Student Outreach
    Presenter: Ken Overholser
    Overview of the teen/club center and concert models for creating open doors in student ministry. Students and adult volunteers can transform your ministry!
  5. Membership
    Presenter: Carolyn Slaughter
    Using "A Follower's Life" curriculum, participants explore a membership system that generates personal transformation, urges individual mission-exploration, and fully releases individuals into ministry.
  6. Cell Group Ministry
    Presenter: Jodi Long
    Overview of cell communities: how to connect people, prepare them to participate, and disciple new group leaders.
  7. The Outward-Focused Church
    Presenters: John Jung & Team
    Learn about Ginghamsburg's New Path outreach projects: food pantry, car and furniture ministry, financial assistance, and more. Discover how these innovations can be replicated anywhere!
  8. Cyber Ministry
    Presenter: Mark Stephenson
    Harness the power of the Internet for Jesus! Build a ministry that will extend your impact far beyond the walls of your church.
  9. Music
    Presenter: Francis Wyatt (10:00 a.m. only)
    Gain real-life tools and a working knowledge of concepts to empower you to build a faith-filled community and a musically strong ensemble.
  10. Organizational Leadership
    Presenter: Sue Nilson (10:00 a.m. only)
    Learn steps to create a healthy culture of change and harness people's God-potential to fulfill their congregation's mission. See how to structure your church for unleashing great ministry, both paid and volunteer.
  11. Designing Worship
    Presenter: Kim Miller (1:30 p.m. only)
    True worship blesses God and edifies people. This workshop is a behind-the-scenes look at our worship design team and the process to dream, develop, and deploy powerful weekly God-experiences.

  12. Adult Discipleship
    Presenter: Sue Nilson (1:30 p.m. only)
    Create a clear discipleship path to help people grow in faith and service. Explore Ginghamsburg
