Spirituality Web Process Improvement

First a note on Handouts: In an effort to conserve paper, we now recommend the following handouts for this tool:

Single sided — Introduction to the Spirituality Web
Double sided — Spirituality Type Lists: Individual and Corporate
Double sided — Spirituality Web Worksheet: Individual and Corporate
You may eliminate the Means of Grace Webs. They can always be provided for those who request them.

INDIVIDUAL SPIRITUALITY WEB: Complete steps one through four as presented in the text (Equipped for Every Good Work) on pages 69-71.

CORPORATE SPIRITUALITY WEB: Substitute the following for the fifth step . . .

Fifth: Read through the Corporate Spirituality Web Lists (pages 80-81). Invite participants to use their Spirituality Web Worksheet: Corporate to note strong reactions regarding their church’s Spirituality Type.

Sixth: Table conversation (10-15 minutes): Have participants compare their individual impressions and come to consensus on the following:

“How and where does the church provide (or not provide) opportunities for each of the different Spirituality Types to encounter God?” See question 1 on page 72. All aspects of church life should be included in their reflections: worship, education, structure, mission, prayer life, fellowship.

Seventh: Large-group sharing (5-10 minutes): Invite table groups to share insights and consensus regarding the dominant Spirituality Type of the church.

Eighth: Individuals should record the dominant Corporate Spirituality Type on their Personal Profile Puzzles.

Ninth: Collect the puzzles so that you can record the individual and corporate responses on the Group Profile Grid and the PCL Summary Sheet. Remember to note patterns and anomalies for further discussion.

Tenth: If time permits, or at a follow-up gathering, continue the process as presented on page 72 of Equipped for Every Good Work, omitting question 1 from the large-group discussion.
