This website is intended to be a companion resource to the book, Equipped for Every Good Work, available from Discipleship Resources and Cokesbury. If you are here out of curiosity or have used a different tool for spiritual gifts discovery, you will find helpful and interesting information on our pages. Gifts discovery is not dependent on one tool or one process. While we believe we have provided a process of scripturally based integrity (see the "Process Overview"), the tool is not as important as the dialogue inspired, the connections made, the power of grace released when we focus our attention on the work of the Holy Spirit within us.

We depend on you to determine the course of our journey. Dan Dick and I (Barbara Miller) have committed to posting something new each week. But we — and you — will soon tire of the sound of our two voices. We need your help — your ideas for articles, your stories, your resource reviews, exercises and studies you have developed and used — what works and what doesn’t.

When we set out to document the process that Dan began in 1988, we knew it would be a difficult task. Part of the strength of the process is that it has evolved with new experience and new learning —in response to the feedback from participants. Now that the book has been published, the only way the process will continue to evolve is for you to share your experience with us and with one another.

Our fondest hope for Equipped for Every Good Work and this web site is that these resources will foster connections among Christian stewards — connections founded in the common experience of the Holy Spirit, the ongoing, living presence of God in Christ. May we be filled with light and heat, opened to the power of grace and love as we build gifts-based ministry. This is ministry that knows no institutional walls. It is ministry that grows out of clearer understanding of who and whose we are as the body of Christ, ready to respond to the needs of a hungry and hurting world — "equipped for every good work."
