We solicited nominations from Bishops, District Superintendents, Church Developers, Directors of Connectional Ministries, Annual Conference Lay Leaders, Connectional Table members, National Plans and Ethnic Caucus leaders and GBOD Board members. The nomination process was completed on February 1, 2007.
935 congregations were nominated by 309 church leaders.
By ethnic groups (nominator identified):
91 African American, 37 Asian American, 623 Euro American, 6 Native American, 19 Hispanic American, and 130 who were identified as Multicultural congregations
By size (nominator identified):
197 Small, 361 Medium, and 358 Large
By context (nominator identified):
192 Rural, 359 Suburban, 285 Urban, 14 County Seat, 19 Small Town, 3 College Town

All of these congregations are now in the Romans 12 general study pool and all of these congregations are being invited to participate in an intensive congregational survey. We are hopeful that many will choose to do so that we might begin the process of discovering what vital disciple being and forming congregations have in common, what varies by context and to see the signs and wonders of God's work in The United Methodist Church.
