  Change Management Resources
So much is written about change these days that it is hard to choose what to read and what to ignore. Here is a list of books dealing with managing change that are among the best in the field. Any or all of them will help you lead your congregation or annual conference through the white-water rapids of cultural and organizational change. If you have time for only one book on the list, focus on the first one.

  1. The Dance of Change: The Challenges of Sustaining Momentum in a Learning Organization by Peter Senge, Richard Ross, Art Kleiner, Charlotte Roberts, George Roth, and Bryan Smith. Doubleday & Company, 1999. (Click here to see a review.)

  2. Seven Life Lessons of Chaos by John Briggs and F. David Peat. HarperCollins, 1998.

  3. Who Moved My Cheese?: An Amazing Way to Deal with Change in Your Work and in Your Life by Spencer Johnson and Kenneth Blanchard. Penguin, 1998.

  4. The Goal: A Process of Ongoing Improvement by Eliyahu Goldratt. North River Press, 1994.

  5. Managing Transitions: Making the Most of Change by William Bridges. Perseus Press, 1991.

  6. Reframing Organizations: Artistry, Choice, and Leadership by Lee G. Bolman and Terrence E. Deal. Jossey-Bass, 1997.

  7. Leading at the Edge of Chaos: How to Create the Nimble Organization by Daryl Conner. John Wiley and Sons, 1998.

  8. Intellectual Capital: The New Wealth of Organizations by Thomas A Stewart. Bantam Doubleday, 1998.

  9. The Circle of Innovation: You Can't Shrink Your Way to Greatness by Tom Peters. Knopf, 1997.

  10. Leading Change by John P. Kotter. Harvard Business School Press, 1996.
