Bowman
Herb Bowman prepares to teach his workshop on older-adult ministries at the Adult Ministries Institute 2004.
More than 250 leaders of adult ministries participated in the conference "Bridging FaithWalks in Adult Ministries" in San Francisco in February 2004.

Participants engaged in workshops, worship, networking opportunities, and plenary sessions.

Maddy Dychtwald, an associate with Age Wave, talked about longer life expectancy and explained how adults are mixing education, work, and leisure throughout their lives.

Dan Church, executive with the General Council on Ministries, reflected on the importance of empowering older adults to be active in sharing their faith with younger generations.

Leaders of older-adult ministries participated in various workshops and joined together for a network luncheon led by Richard Gentzler, director of the Center on Aging & Older-Adult Ministries. During the luncheon, older-adult ministry leaders had an opportunity to learn about many of the exciting ministries taking place in various congregations.

In addition to the various handouts and information shared, all participants received a complimentary copy of the new book by Richard H. Gentzler, Jr., The Graying of the Church (Discipleship Resources, 2003).
