The Legacy of Leadership Fund
Providing Support for UM Camp/Retreat Leaders and Ministries
We successfully launched the Legacy of Leadership Fund in 2003. Today, we are seeking to expand the fund for the continuing education and development of those serving in camp and retreat ministry and to enhance camp and retreat experiences that specifically nurture leaders for the church and the world. All of us have people who have blessed our lives and contributed to our becoming the leaders we are today. I invite you, now, to pause to give thanks for the people who nurtured you and your leadership, both living and deceased.
The Legacy of Leadership Fund gives you the opportunity to name and honor the people who have contributed so much to your own leadership, and at the same time it provides an avenue for you to give critical assistance for the training and spiritual growth of those who will lead United Methodist camp and retreat ministry into the future. You can be a part of all the lives drawn closer to God and changed for the better through experiences provided by recipients of the fund. Current funding is very limited. It is heart-wrenching to have to tell gifted people that the support they need is not available. We can change this through expressions of thanksgiving and generosity. My wife and I will be making another donation; and we hope you will, too. Here's how the new fund works.
For every $50 dollar contribution to the Legacy of Leadership Fund, you can name and honor one person or a couple who made a difference in your life and leadership. ALL the money you give will go to the crucial preparation of key volunteers and staff who continue the legacy of leadership of UM camp/retreat ministry and to support camp/retreat ministry endeavors geared to preparing spiritual leaders for the church and society.
Note: Those of you will be attending the National UM Camp/Retreat Leaders' Event in January 2005 will be given the opportunity to make pledges to the Legacy of Leadership Fund, so please prayerfully consider what God might be enabling you to share for this extremely important cause.
