National UM Camp/Retreat Leaders' Gathering/Training Epworth by the Sea Conference Center, Saint Simons Island, GA January 28-February 1, 2005

Please join 400-500 camp/retreat ministry friends and colleagues January 28-February 1, 2005, at St. Simons Island to celebrate the wonder of God and the deep meaning of our shared Christian ministry. This is the premier training and networking opportunity provided by The United Methodist Church for the wide variety of leaders involved in camps and retreats: volunteers, camp/retreat center staff, board members, conference staff, and people exploring camp/retreat ministry as a possible vocation. Recruit as many of your leaders as possible. For many participants, these events become the catalyst and inspiration for long-term commitment and growth in ministry. Exposure to other leaders, spiritual renewal, and new learning will have a profound impact on your programs for years to come. Dynamic speakers and worship will stimulate your thinking and your spirit as we explore the theme Moving in the Spirit. "Moving in the Spirit" builds on Henri Nouwen's spiritual teachings in his book Reaching Out, one of the most widely read books on Christian hospitality. Each day we will explore a different theme — the movement to solitude, hospitality, and prayer. In addition, a large number of seminars and workshops will satisfy your needs for training and learning. The stunning scenery of St. Simons Island will renew your soul. Trees draped in Spanish moss provide a mystic backdrop similar to the one that existed when the Wesley brothers came to this island during their adventure to the Americas. The people you meet during the event will also help you establish an ongoing network of relationships, support, and insight that you can continue to tap when you return home. For those of you interested in Continuing Education credit for participating in the learning and plenary times, 2 CEU's will be available.
