Chuck Kishpaugh Sends His Greetings
Chuck is retiring after 33 years of professional leadership within United Methodist Camp/Retreat Ministry. From 1986 until 1994, Chuck served us all as the National Camp/Retreat staff person at the General Board of Discipleship. He has touched and inspired so many of us. We thank God for you, Chuck!
What Will You Be Doing Following Your Retirement?
Chuck: I will join Jan, my wife and best friend, in her calling to get the best learning resources possible into the hands of educators, parents, and mentors. Jan's Learning Tree extends our common interest in caring about children, youth, and families. I also plan to continue to contribute a bit to camp and retreat leaders by being an American Camping Association visitor and pursuing other projects. When I am not doing these things, I will be nurturing the earth and my own soul in my garden.
What would you like to share with your friends and colleagues across the country?
Chuck: Camp and Retreat Ministry has been my life's work. I wouldn't trade the many wonderful experiences I have had for anything. Visiting the camps and retreat centers and meeting the leaders equipped me in ways that few will ever know. I am deeply indebted to all the leaders I met over the years in my travels, for they taught me more than I could possibly generate from my own experience. The enormous creativity and faith awed me at times. If the truth be known, much of what others learned from me, I discovered on these visits. My primary contribution came in being a conduit for sharing essential and cutting edge ideas that others graciously showed me. Blessed by God describes my life and my work among you. It has been an honor and privilege. Thank you all!
