Essential Functions:
Management/Marketing of Events and Packages, 75%
Product Development and Research, 15%
Marketing/Communications Support, 10%
Develop and implement marketing plans to maximize participation in special events and lodging packages.
- Marketing channels including but not limited to brochures, mailings, internet, publicity and advertising.
- Sales channels including but not limited to telemarketing and tradeshows.
- Maintain detailed tracking of all expenses and revenues generated.
- Collaborate with Lake Junaluska Ministry Events on event management and implementation.
- Coordinate staff and volunteers to implement special events and packages
- Accountable for maximizing profitability within all events for lodging, food service and program revenues. Negotiate contracts with vendors and events partners Develop and manage budgets for each event. Accountable for over P&L performance. Must be able to exercise discretion and judgment with minimal direct supervision
Assure quality guest experiences. Represent the values of Lake Junaluska Conference and Retreat Center when interacting with vendors, media, internal partners and guests.
Evaluate current and future events.
- ssist with guest and target audience surveys.
- Develop new events and make changes to current events based on market demand and organization needs.
Manage monthly budgets for events and packages area. Includes managing revenue and expenses for all special events.
Assist with cross marketing and selling of all areas of Lake Junaluska.
Evaluate all job responsibilities and measures with Director of Sales and Marketing.
Perform other duties as assigned to assure the success of Lake Junaluska Conference Center in achieving its goals and purposes.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
An ideal candidate will have any combination of experience and education equivalent to B.S. in Marketing or Hospitality management or 3-4 years minimum experience with marketing or sales within the Hospitality/Attraction Industry.
Must have excellent organizational, communication and financial management skills, with the ability to interact with a wide range of people in varied situations. Should be highly motivated, creative, team oriented and driven for success. Must have the ability to take broad concepts and develop action plans with results while receiving minimal direct supervision. Knowledge and experience with Internet communications systems, publicity, printer negotiation, graphic design and direct mail management is ideal. Proficiency with office automation systems including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook is necessary.
An ideal candidate will have knowledge of beliefs, structure and programs of The United Methodist Church and have a commitment to the Christian faith.
