What is an Affiliate Organization?:
An affiliate of the General Board of Discipleship is a separate,independent organization that enters a relationship of mutual support and cooperation with the GBOD. This organizational friendship in the faith focuses specifically on helping each other to fulfill important aspects of the following specific mission:
"To assist annual conferences, districts, and local churches in their efforts to win persons to Jesus Christ as his disciples and to help these persons grow in their understanding of God--to seek to enable congregations to carry out their primary task of reaching out and receiving all who will respond, encouraging people in their relationship with God and inviting them to commitment to God's love made known in Jesus Christ, providing opportunities for persons to be nurtured and formed in the Christian faith, and supporting them to live lovingly and justly in the power of the Holy Spirit as faithful disciples--to assist congregations in becoming inclusive communities of growing Christians, celebrating and communicating with persons of every age, racial and ethnic background, and social condition the redeeming and reconciling love of God as revealed in Jesus Christ."
